Forced perspective

15:37 Oct 29 2009
Times Read: 1,022

As I’m very photosensitive I have to use photo-chromatic lens. Well, since my last eye test, I learnt I don’t need to wear them now, except for reading. But as I say, I am very photosensitive, so continue to wear my round John Lennon style glasses, which darken in the sun. Yet now, thanks to that appointment, I now have a pair of black frame glasses that also darken in the sun, for reading.

Now, if I’m doing close-up work I do need those glasses. And, as I don’t like having both expensive pairs out at the same time; and, as I didn’t have a bag, the other day when I was going to Mikes to work on his peecee I wore my reading glasses. And, that was the day I met Debbie Shrewsbury Gee; the say I talked about depression and CBT, felt a connection and got rebuffed I found, when the number I’d been given proved to be a line that no longer existed.

Yet, stating the obvious, I digress: on my trip to Prenton, to pick up the application-form, I decided to wear my reading glasses, knowing full well I would need them when I went to Mikes, to apply some codecs.

And, it was interesting wearing them. Besides making me a little unsure of where I put my right foot, I tend to focus more on that which I find interesting, as that which would often distract, at the edge of my somewhat restricted vision.

All in all, wearing them changes my perspective, my focus; and, leaves me with a headache. Ah, eye contact is also an experience while wearing them, for exactly the same reason.

Well, I got to and from the benefit office in just over one hour ten minutes, ‘not bad methinks;’ then after a rest and, a snack, it’s off for my flu in injection: [ah, how I’d been looking forward to that!] And ‘yes’, it had hurt as much as I’d expected. And the darn nurse recognized me, recalling that I was due a cholesterol test. Oh, I was so-pleased; as it means that on the 22nd I’ll be fasting, from 7:30 p.m. onwards, so no morning coffee! Oh yea, the dole had a job for me to try for, Health Care Assistant, in a road with two ends, at a time of my choice, ‘for an interview’? Well, that was strange enough to keep my interest.

It seems I am getting VERY tired.. have some 'Dollhouse' to watch. Thank gawd..

Well talk of about frustrating: after a good day I tried to access VampireRave and at first all I got from Explorer was ‘cannot find’, then when I did get on the page froze, so I’d opened up again.

This time I was able to open up, put up a journal entry, then some new pics on my profile page; but, when I went to put some new photo’s up from my day out I kept being told that I had too many photo’s up.

So I’d deleted eight and, been told yet again, ‘you have too many photo’s up.’

And, after a message to ‘help’ I learnt there’d been a glitch.

Well, I’m not faulting Cancer for all his hard work, as I wouldn’t do that, as there’s noway I could do what he can do. But boy, was it of-so frustrating.

HMS Illustrious

23:02 Oct 25 2009
Times Read: 1,045

The clocks went back an hour and, when I rose at 9:00 there was already blues sky overhead and a fierce breeze and, my Dad already had the washing on.

As I finished getting ready, he was already starting his ‘other jobs’, after getting the washing on the line.

And, as I travelled to Karl’s I realised that a big grey jumper under a proper bikers leather hadn’t been a good idea, so that got removed; then after picking up some new t.v. shows, like ‘Stargate universe’ and ‘The Plan’, [Battlestar Galactica, from the Cylons point of view] we left his, for the train.

We got off at James Street Station, then waked down to the riverfront. Needless to say, the queue to see the HMS Illustrious was massive, but it had moved, in groups of a hundred or so, every quarter of an hour.

All in all, I’m so glad that Karl asked me to go. I had been to see the Ark Royal, with Peter awhile back, which is the same ‘Invincible’ class, but this time I got to see inside the ship and it’s equipment: and, the sheer scale of the damned thing.

As it was, that had made the backache I’d got from the wait in the queue worth it and I’d had an excellent day.

‘Blitz Spirit’???

14:14 Oct 23 2009
Times Read: 1,070

I woke Friday morning still knackered. Thursday we’d been more than a few short volunteers short, I cooked for well over fifty, then served at the door: and then walked Nadia to the station, where she’d met her Mother. I’d used the little German I know to say ‘Good evening,’ pleased to heck that she could understand me and that I’d been able to pick up that she’d used the Deutche for ‘friend.’

Then when I got to the station, the Loop-line was off, so it was a trek through town to James Street, where a throng where already waiting on the platform.

It was right funny watching them, ‘coz so few actually listened any of the instructions given them: just talk about the ‘Blitz Spirit’.

When I got onto Vampirerave I was delighted to read that someone liked the synopsis of Fringe I had written up!!

And, then come Friday morning, my feet ached, badstyle.

Stuff It

Stuff it, Or Not

So on a recovery day, from watching ‘surrogate’ with Mike, I went to The Mere, then on my return, read a recipe, or two, on how-to-cook the marrow I’d obtained after the Harvest Festival, not at all content with the old stand-by, the stuffing of one.

Well, I went with frying, which as it turns out, have the marrow the taste and texture of water-chestnuts, which was alright, as I like water-chestnuts.

As I ate, I watched the first of the to X-File films and, was quickly reminded how good that show was at its height.

And, speaking of television, I do like ‘Vampire Diaries’, though prefer ‘True Blood, as it’s less aimed at the Twilight’ audience, more the ‘Interview With A Vampire’ audience.

And, speaking of television, since the loss of ‘Eureka’ from our screens, I have really quite been enjoying ‘Flash Forward’, which I consider to be one of the best pieces of scifi drama currently on our teevee, other than when Doctor Who returns, of course.

Oh yeah, and not forgetting the new series of ‘Fringe’, I do so-like Walter; and the story; and the effects. Aye all-in-all, damn good show.

Second Life and 'Surrogates'

18:19 Oct 20 2009
Times Read: 1,088

Being of the belief that Second Life is for those dissatisfied with the “First Life”, I was intrigued and, repulsed in turn, to find a Blog devoted to and glorifying spending ‘hard-earned’ Linden™ Dollars [Second Life currency] in a fashion world, within Second Life. This site was put out by two enthusiasts Nikkita Auerbauch and Jhuzen Ketsugo on http://slfashionaddict.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

On these pages, these two virtual fashionistas discuss the merits of clothing, accessories and Lifestyle, with an enthusiasm that someone else might have for the breath of Life.

So it was with this in mind, I sat to watch ‘Surrogates’, wherein the Avatars have been given form, to live out the lives of their controllers, who stay at home, safe in the knowledge that nothing can touch them. And, nothing can, until people start dying.

This was the basis of the new Bruce Willis movie, which I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend highly.

And, it seems that I might get a Birthday card, or two, through the post. It seems the Post Office management, in a bid to kill the strike [and probably the union, the CWU] are drafting in more Christmas temporary staff, to deal with any backlog created by the strikes. And, though I’d prefer arbitration and, success to the workers in their fight for their rights, I do want my birthday cards: [[“That is, assuming I’m sent any.”]]

Cheesed off.. totally cheesed off. An it’s Thursday and, there’s people to poison; yet I’d started the morning with my Mother asking me if there was a bag of cannabis in the back garden. That’d confused me, particularly as I’d just woken up. “In a bag beneath the top of the trolley,” she’d said, a questioning tone in her voice. So wearing nothing but a scowl and my robe, I went outside and, looked where she had described.

And it was sunny, too sunny outside, as I walked barefoot into the back, full of anger and confusion, as I walked toward the trolley. In the white bag, the handles knotted at the top, was Lavender. And, as I walked back in, I recalled her words, “..there’s cannabis been found in Hooton.” And when it comes down to it, that was it, she was being thoughtful, I guess. But I just didn’t need it first thing in the morning.

‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’

23:48 Oct 13 2009
Times Read: 1,141

My right hand knuckles joints ached as I held the filter jug, to refill the kettle, so I’d decided to teach them a lesson at the end of Tuesday night and write. I wrote of the misery of needing glasses, to see the small print of the Radio Times, to see when my favourite show is on. But the day had been good, ‘tho the morning stressful, as I’d thought of my impending time at the dole. And, as it was that hadn’t been bad and, the sky blue, with a pleasant chill; and then the evening, when I’d planned to watch a particular film that’d been acquired, for me: ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.’

And, to anyone who knows the other films, this is just what you’d expect: and Harry has matured; and there is love interests, as well the the preparation to the climactic conclusions that will follow. All in all, it had been a film for a fan of them.

And, as it seems, I am a fan of ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince:’ it’s good.

I'm laughing about the change, as I went to a lot of trouble,m to get some images right, for my profile.

So I got back from my walk on a Monday afternoon. I went to Mikes’s and found irony in the fact that I’d be putting to disc a two-part movie called, ‘Mikes Dirty Movie’ [the contents of which I have no knowledge ‘guv, honest!] and wow, the colours of the leaves, as the bright sunlight shone through was poetry of moment, in itself. And, I do like taking that right turn onto Bridle, as I come out of Mikes, makes for an altogether more pleasant walk. But, I digress: in my story-book, I have the email for a lady in the nhs, who organizes amongst other things, story-tellers. And, this pretty, slim brunette young lady, with pony-tail [with partner, “safe”] has been on the project for at least three occasions: and, she’d accepted my idea of sending her examples of my story-telling. Well, bright-boy here went out without thinking of it, yet again. And so, finally, just before and young potatoes and red wine, I sat down to talk in type, of my frustrations, yet again. Gordon Bennet! My head should be boiled for a cabbage, sometimes! [At least, that way it would be useful!!]

There are days when I feel my age and days when I don’t. Friday morning I felt the same age as my left wrist: and that needed an operation. Yep, Thursday night was busy: we did meals for well over fifty odd & a fellow that would expect it of tidied up in front of the church, to say ‘thank you.’ Well cool.

And, people and booze, “what is it with that??”

Thursday night on the ways home, the threshers weren’t out like the previous week, but there were still loads of idiots to compensate for the lack of ‘em.

I mean, why the frig do people need booze, to have a good night. And yes, that is rhetorical.

I mean, I just had a scene with Mike getting emotional over his folks: and why, he had been drinking. Frell, the idea of your folks getting older and dying is bad enough.

Drinking and, getting maudlin about it doesn’t help. I know.

I got politely mischievous...

23:59 Oct 05 2009
Times Read: 1,182

Still in recovery from ‘a good night,’ the night before, I got up late, with a bath as my plan and then, a trip to Karl’s.

Well by the time little Mother had organized the wash and I was awake properly, the grey skies were dissipating and, my folks were thinking of taking the washing back out, as there were light winds and, a blue sky.

And then, I plodded round seeking coffee and slow exercise, prior to facing my bath and the phone rang: it was Karl, going to go out with the girls over the road, [his kinda adopted niece’s, all of who kinda adopted him.] And, other than the one concerning the bath, his phone-call had sort of spoilt my plans: so I adapted.

{He typed with a grin.}

“Serving up in three minutes,” Dad says, so it’s ‘Save As’, then close-down the laptop, just before tea: roast chicken, roast potato’s, roast parsnips and sprouts, served with a good Rosé, then mixed fruit cheesecake sweet: My priority over writing.

And, a file being converted on the P.C., I sat wired still, laptop before me again, as the sky’s horizon turned golden outside.

I was going to talk of the journey, after the bath, which had been purely for me, when I’d worn my leather jacket-biker style, with the collar turned up, over a vertical blue-lined short-sleeve shirt and, wearing my black zip-up boots, the one’s with the hole in the left sole; I had got he train, after helping Little Mother, by folding some washing, [her second load & she was getting wheezy, but try stopping her.] I had decided to go to Birkenhead, in search of a whiskey and some discs, for a few of the files I acquired from Karl last week. ‘A reasonable plan,’ I had thought, especially as the weather was so pleasant.

As I trundled up to the station under a blue sky, I found myself talking to a gentleman to my left, with a similar attitude in Life to me, as I realized, by the time he got off a few stations later: and, he was as photosensitive as I am, with cheeks as gaunt.

And, much as I used to wonder ‘Is she my Birth Mother?’ when a woman of a certain age would pass me in Liverpool, I had wondered idly, ‘Is this my sperm donor?’

But, that aside I got my whiskey then the discs, before decided to trundle back home, slowly. And that was when I got politely mischievous.

I had crossed the road by the lights and, crossed back again; then walked across the road, and onto the grassy roundabout with the monument, which all the baby-Goth’s sit around, much as they used to, [to my knowledge] around the Victoria monument in James Street, Liverpool.

I asked on one the steps, wearing a striped top and hood: “Do you know what this means?” showing him my Ankh.

He hadn’t. So I’d then asked his small group, “Does anybody smoke?”

No-one had.

I then walked across the paved area, to where another small group sat on a low wall and asked the same question, one had an idea and another chipped in, with her thoughts. They knew ‘Egyptian,’ in essence.

And then, I’d asked my second question again, the same person piped up, so I gave him a smoke, and someone from the back came up and accepted one.

Mission accomplished, I had smiled then rose and walked across the grassy part of the roundabout, got to the road, dropped down and, crossing the road, hopped over the railings’ outside the station.

As it happens, I made a poor purchase with the discs: as out of the two packs, many will not verify. Que Sera sera, I had enjoyed the whiskey.

As it was, a little later little Mother asked me, “Will you change our bed tomorrow?” And then reminded me off blood tests on Monday.

I’d just looked answered ‘sure’, then later gone out to the Full Moon, to seek some assurance, before ‘Heroes’ and bed.

... a stress-free Thursday & more.

And, what is it ‘they’ say: “In the kingdom of blind men, the one-eyed man is king.”

Well, since the recent realignment of signals, that affected so many, I have retuned seven television’s and, successfully re-acquired Channel 5 on six of them: and, made fifteen pound of it, while doing so. And then, I helped explain some instruction to an older couple, friends of Mikes: and through these jobs, I got headaches from the work, fresh air [from the walking to and from the jobs] and, a bag of cannabis leaves, which will assuredly help me save some money, for my birthday. And, the thing was, it had been such an interesting few day, that had included a stress-free Thursday night on the project, that I hadn’t even mind a probable loss of five pounds, after my committed war of the dust bunnies beneath my bed before I had changed my bedding, with not one, but two different sorts of vacuum cleaner, one of which actually was a Hoover.

Early morning I got watching Jeeves and Wooster with Stephen Fry and was reminded just how good that the actor Hugh Laurie was, before ‘House.’

Then, I spent much of the day retuning digital televisions for different people.

It hadn't been my idea of fun, but I did like feeling useful: and they had said, "thank you."

That said, by the time I got home from the last lot of television’s eye-burn had set in.

And, logging onto Yahoo, I read a series of pieces saying Lady-Ga Ga issa Hermaphrodite: well that explains something.. I thought she was cute!! Now, I know why!! AND then later, chattin to a Lady on chat in Yahoo you press the wrong friggin button and chat closes down and, a friggin search begins.. have you noticed??

That aside, I also learnt that the piece I wrote while watching the first episode of ‘Vampire Diaries’ got closed, before I’d saved the whole document.

Now there’s a cardinal sin, to anyone who tries to write, don’t cha think!?!
